Utah Valley University Pedestrian Bridge

Overview

Working with UDOT, Utah Transit Authority (UTA), and Utah Valley University (UVU), Kraemer as the CM/GC contractor built the pedestrian bridge that provides access between the Intermodal Center in Orem and the UVU campus. The bridge spans almost 1,000 feet across I-15 and is 15 feet wide. Elevators on each side of the bridge accommodate ADA access, pedestrians, bikes, and scooters. The $30.7M bridge project dramatically improved safety for pedestrians and decreased congestion on nearby streets. It makes transit, biking, and walking more appealing to university students, staff, and visitors while improving the integrated transportation system in central Utah County. It’s the longest pedestrian bridge in the state and includes a heated bridge deck to prevent icing, and unique aesthetic elements to connect with the university.
