MNDOT Old Cedar Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation

Overview

Kraemer rehabilitated the nationally registered historic Old Cedar Avenue Bridge, which was built in the 1920s. The Old Cedar Avenue Bridge is a five-span camelback through truss bridge that spans across the protected wetlands of Long Meadow Lake near Bloomington, MN. Kraemer constructed an 800-foot-long by 40-foot-wide temporary bridge alongside the existing bridge to gain access across the protected wetlands. The rehabilitation and repurposing of the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge as a pedestrian bridge provided trail conductivity for the Intercity Regional Trail System throughout the Minneapolis Metro Area.
