Lake Byllesby Dam
Overview
Kraemer constructed spillways, abutments, piers, retaining walls, approach walls, access bridges, and two 65 ft x 14 ft crest gates. Designed and installed two maintenance access bridges. Performed over 8,000 cy of rock excavations, 3,000 cy of riprap, 2,200 lineal feet of perimeter dike raise, and 2,200 sq ft of permanent sheeting cutoff wall installation. Continuous dewatering required, as well as a 600-foot earthen dike, was required to construct the final tie-in at the existing dam in the dry. This dam widening project is intended to protect the city of Cannon Falls from a maximum flood event of 16 inches of rain over the watershed area in 24 hours, conforming to Federal Regulations.
