RTD Fast Tracks West Corridor Light Right Bridge
Overview
The West Corridor LRT Line services the Cities of Denver, Lakewood, and Golden, as well as the Auraria Campus, the Federal Center, and the Jefferson County Government Center. The alignment follows the path of a former freight rail spur; traveling through a highly urbanized corridor composed of railroad right-of-way, industrial facilities, residential neighborhoods, multiple city parks, multi-use trail networks, highway corridors, and arterial/local roads.
Design and construction phases required extensive coordination with multiple agencies including the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), City and County of Denver (CCD) Public Works, CCD Parks and Recreation, RTD, Burlington Northern and Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), Urban Drainage, the Cities of Lakewood and Golden, and multiple utility agencies. Kramer constructed eight major bridges along the corridor, including two signature steel bridges, one over US 6 and another over the South Platte River. a complex steel bridge over BNSF and UPRR right-of-way, and two bridges over CDOT state highways.
