The John Lewis Memorial Bridge
Overview
Awarded APWA Transportation Project of the Year in
2023, Seattle’s John Lewis Memorial Bridge links two residential areas separated by I-5. The new pedestrian bridge spans 1,900 ft, landing at North Seattle College on the west side and at 1st Ave
NE and NE 100th St, near the light rail station, on the
east side. Additional scope included a multi-use trail
connection west of I-5, and bicycle and pedestrian
improvements on 2st Ave NE. This also gave residents and visitors access to nearby amenities such as parks, medical and social services.
