About Us

Excellence in Quality and Safety

Kraemer North America is a privately held general contractor headquartered in Plain, Wisconsin with regional offices located in Minnesota, Colorado, and Washington. Established in 1911, our roots were founded in the construction of challenging bridges and highways across the U.S. Today, Kraemer is a full-service heavy civil contractor with a national reputation for quality and safety. We serve three primary markets, including transportation, rail, and marine. Kraemer is proud to be an AISC-certified and endorsed contractor for steel and bridge erection.  (Categories CSEA and BEE respectively).

Kraemer has been a recognized leader in alternative delivery transportation projects for the past two decades. Kraemer’s national alternative delivery group is among those leading the industry in innovative design-build and CMGC owner, design engineer, and contractor partnerships. In addition, we are proud of our standing in the communities in which we live and serve as well as the strong relationships we have built with our clients, teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.

In 2014, Kraemer joined the Obayashi global family of companies. This strategic partnership has allowed Kraemer to participate in a greater number of projects, including larger-scale civil works projects in Kraemer’s core areas and in new areas across the U.S.

Trust. Reliability. A Wealth of Experience and Resources. Kraemer brings all of these and more to every project. For over a century, we have been a leader in the heavy highway and infrastructure design-build process. We have fostered strong relationships with clients, engineering firms, and other contractors to address design and constructability issues, allowing all parties to enjoy the benefits of cost and schedule efficiencies. We continue to seek out opportunities to work directly with such firms by furnishing the highest quality design and delivering a quality end product that exceeds expectations.

Quality & Safety

Kraemer employees have a reputation for providing quality work on every project. We will do whatever it takes to ensure the work proceeds with three key elements to meet the deadline; Quality, Production and Safety. When these three simple elements are strictly adhered to, the schedule is met through “no re-work” management – completing the work right the first time.

Our corporate quality program is customized for each project. Frequent inspections by Kraemer management, craft and quality professionals throughout the duration of the project ensure quality is built into the project and not simply checked in a reactive mode. Kraemer provides the resources and processes to thoroughly review and inspect the construction means, methods, procedures and products to ensure conformance to the project’s quality requirements and technical specifications.

When you choose Kraemer, you can be assured your important investment will be delivered to the highest standards of quality and project execution.

At Kraemer, we value the health and well-being of every member of our team, surrounding communities, the environment and the public. We execute work in a safe and ethical manner and ensure that every Kraemer employee is informed and abide by these principles.

Our goal is Zero. Zero injuries and incidents is the only acceptable result. To accomplish this, our comprehensive safety and health programs are integrated into every project from pre-project planning through completion.

Kraemer’s pledge is to ensure that safety is never sacrificed for production or cost savings. That is why we continuously work to promote, establish and maintain a safe production culture that not only reduces the frequency, severity and cost of injuries and incidents but also prevents them from occurring. We celebrate our Safe Production success by consistently out performing the industry’s average safety record.
